City on Fire 4K Blu-ray Arrives August 26 from Shout! Studios

City on Fire, directed by Ringo Lam and starring Chow Yun-Fat, Sun Yueh, and Danny Lee, releases on 4K UHD and Blu-ray August 26, 2025 from Shout! Studios as part of the Hong Kong Cinema Classics™ series.

The film follows undercover cop Ko Chow who is caught between his duty and loyalty as he infiltrates a dangerous criminal gang led by an increasingly suspicious leader. The plot escalates when a planned heist spirals into violence and mistrust within the group.

This edition features a brand-new 4K scan from the original camera negative, presented on the 4K UHD disc with Dolby Vision HDR. Both the 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs include newly translated optional English subtitles.

The 4K UHD disc includes an audio commentary with film historians Frank Djeng and F.J. DeSanto. The Blu-ray doubles down on extra content with several new featurettes: Burn it Down!, an interview with screenwriter Tommy Sham; Hong Kong Confidential, a look inside the film with author Grady Hendrix; Some Like it Hot, an interview with film historian Ric Meyers; and Burning Rivalries, featuring historian Kim Newman. It also adds the theatrical trailer and an image gallery.

The technical presentation maintains the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio, with Cantonese and English DTS-HD Master Audio Mono tracks. Total running time is approximately 105 minutes. Playback of Dolby Vision requires compatible hardware.

Shout! Studios has collaborated with the Hong Kong Film Archives for this release, continuing their efforts to restore and preserve key films from Hong Kong’s cinema history in the Hong Kong Cinema Classics™ collection.
