88 Films: Yakuza Wives Blu-ray Coming April 29

Yakuza Wives, directed by Hideo Gosha, is set to debut on Blu-ray from 88 Films with a planned release in April. This critically acclaimed film contemporizes the classic yakuza genre with its captivating portrayal of mob rivalry, centered around the real-life experiences of Japanese gangsters' spouses.

In the compelling narrative, Shima Iwashita delivers a standout performance as Tamaki, a formidable member of the Domoto clan, who balances the challenges of leadership as her husband serves time. Her resolve is tested when familial bonds are strained by her sister Makoto's association with a rival gang member.

The upcoming release by 88 Films marks the first time Yakuza Wives will be available outside Japan on home video, catering to both U.S. and Canadian audiences on April 29, with a slightly earlier release in the UK on April 28.

This special edition will feature a high-definition transfer and an array of intriguing bonus content. Added extras include a new exclusive interview with tattoo artist Seiji Mouri and a filmed introduction by noted critic Mark Schilling, along with stills galleries and trailers. The package is completed with newly commissioned artwork by Sean Longmore and enhanced original mono audio with improved English subtitles, all within a Region A/B locked disc.
