PlotHarry Plotnick, a small-time Jewish mobster recently released from prison, attempts to return to his old life and regain control of his petty racketeering business in New York. Intent on reestablishing his influence, he finds the environment drastically changed as he deals with new obstacles, including rival gangsters encroaching on his territory and changing times that no longer play by the same rules. Meanwhile, Harry's family is equally demanding; his ex-wife and daughter pull him into family responsibilities he long neglected. His sister Peg runs events that require his presence, dragging him further into family drama. As he navigates this complex network of personal and professional relationships, Harry realizes that the world he aims to conquer might already be moving beyond his grasp.
Alongside these struggles, Harry battles with his health issues, adding a persistent layer of pressure to his comeback efforts. He constantly shifts between juggling business crises and domestic engagements, which only amplify his existential crisis. In trying to put his life back on the old track, he finds himself in an emotional whirlpool, forced to re-evaluate what truly matters. The film follows Harry’s journey as unforeseen circumstances unravel around him, offering a darkly comedic yet poignant look at a man at odds with both time and his own past.
