Lake Placid

Director: Steve Miner
Actors: Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman, Oliver Platt
PlotIn the serene setting of Black Lake, Maine, a horrific incident shakes the quiet community when a diver is gruesomely attacked by an unknown creature. To investigate the mysterious death, paleontologist Kelly Scott is sent from New York, joining forces with local sheriff Hank Keough, Fish and Game officer Jack Wells, and eccentric mythology professor Hector Cyr. As the team delves into the case, they encounter conflicting views and approaches, from scientific curiosity to precautionary measures—all to ensure the safety of the townsfolk and shed light on the aquatic enigma lurking beneath.
The investigation leads to harrowing encounters with the creature, revealing it to be no ordinary predator but a massive, prehistoric crocodile with insatiable hunger and terrifying stealth. With the town’s Fourth of July celebrations impending and the risk of more attacks increasing, the group grapples with how to capture or kill the monstrous reptile. They confront not only the dangers posed by the croc's sheer power and primal instincts but also their own personal clashes and the skepticism of local residents. As tensions build, the community must unite in a fight for survival against an adversary that defies their understanding of natural history.
