The Magnificent Seven
Director: Antoine Fuqua
Actors: Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke
PlotIn the late 1800s, the small town of Rose Creek is under the brutal control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue. During a town meeting at the church, Bogue and his men set the church ablaze and kill several resisting townspeople, aiming to intimidate the rest into submission. With their lives and the future of their community at stake, the desperate townsfolk, led by the newly widowed Emma Cullen, seek out help to defend themselves against Bogue's tyranny. Emma encounters Sam Chisolm, a warrant officer and bounty hunter, in a nearby town and implores him to help their cause.
Chisolm agrees to assist and sets out to assemble a diverse group of gunslingers with unique skills for the impending battle. The team he puts together is composed of a hard-drinking gambler with charm and skill at the ready, a sharpshooting former Confederate soldier haunted by his past, a taciturn Mexican outlaw, a skilled tracker with native heritage, a brazen Irishman with expertise in explosives, and a capable assassin who rarely speaks. Together, these seven men prepare to liberate Rose Creek, teaching the townspeople how to fight back and setting up defenses against Bogue's private army. As they strategize and bond, the group forms an unlikely brotherhood, with each man finding his own reasons to fight for the town's cause.
