Seth is an angel who guides souls to the afterlife and watches over the people of Los Angeles. Invisible and incapable of human experience, he roams the city, observing their lives without interacting. During one of his rounds, Seth witnesses a heart surgeon, Dr. Maggie Rice, lose a patient on the operating table.
