PlotMarina, a young transgender woman, works as a waitress and aspiring singer in Santiago, Chile, experiencing the elation of being in love with her older boyfriend, Orlando. Their relationship, delicate but full of promise, faces the challenges of societal stigma and personal insecurity. Orlando, who has left his conventional family and career behind, plans a future with Marina, signifying a departure from norms and a journey towards acceptance. Their bond is a flicker of hope and unconventional love in a world weighed down by prejudice.
Tragedy strikes when Orlando suffers an aneurysm and passes away abruptly, leaving Marina reeling with grief. Her sorrow is magnified by the suspicion and hostility she faces from Orlando's family and the authorities, who can't see past her gender identity to recognize her as a deserving partner or to respect her bereavement. Marina navigates a minefield of discrimination as she fights for her right to mourn her lover. The loss of Orlando isn't merely a personal heartbreak; it becomes a battle for dignity in the face of a society that fails to acknowledge her as a Fantastic Woman.
