PlotA group of military scientists is sent to investigate a mysterious and expanding area known as "The Shimmer," which is the site of a meteor crash. This phenomenon is distorting both the laws of nature and the structures of all living things within its boundaries, making the interior of The Shimmer a dangerous and ever-changing landscape. Lena, a biologist and former soldier who is motivated by the sudden reappearance and critical illness of her husband who was part of a previous mission, volunteers to join the expedition. This mission, comprised entirely of women, sets out to discover what happened to the previous teams who never returned. As they delve deeper into The Shimmer, they encounter mutated landscapes and creatures as deadly as they are beautiful, challenging their sanity and their lives.
The team's journey to the lighthouse, which is the epicenter of The Shimmer, is wrought with psychological stress and physical threats from the mutated environment. One by one, they are faced with their personal traumas and fears while also trying to comprehend the alien ecosystem around them. As their understanding grows, so does the realization that the changes caused by The Shimmer are irreversible and beyond human experience. The phenomena test the fabric of their relationships, their sense of self, and ultimately, the fundamental biological and psychological concepts they once took for granted.
