Director: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller
Actors: Anna Faris, Bill Hader, Bruce Campbell
PlotIn a small town called Swallow Falls, struggling inventor Flint Lockwood creates a machine that can turn water into food in a bid to solve the town’s food shortages. Initially met with skepticism, Flint’s invention begins to work in spectacular fashion, causing food items like cheeseburgers and ice cream to rain from the sky. This miraculous occurrence gains national attention, drawing weather intern Sam Sparks to cover the story. Flint becomes a local hero, earning the adoration of the townspeople and the respect he always craved, including from his father, Tim, and the once-dismissive town mayor.
As Flint continues to harness his invention to provide increasingly extravagant meals, the town’s newfound prosperity leads to unexpected consequences. The food production spirals out of control, resulting in excessively large and hazardous culinary phenomena. Flint must grapple with the ethical implications and unforeseen dangers of his invention while maintaining his relationship with Sam and navigating his evolving role in the community. Challenges arise, pushing Flint to explore themes of responsibility and the impact of unchecked ambition.
