PlotIn a remote Ozarks community, a determined 17-year-old girl named Ree Dolly struggles to keep her impoverished family together. Her father, Jessup, has jumped bail after being arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine, putting their house and land up as collateral. To avoid losing their home, Ree must track down her elusive father, navigating a ruthless and tight-knit backwoods society that operates under its own set of codes and secrets. Despite her resilience, Ree faces intimidation and hostility from those who wish to keep Jessup's whereabouts hidden, including her extended family members deeply entwined with the local drug trade.
Ree's search leads her into dangerous encounters with meth dealers and violent relatives, testing her bravery and resolve. She is determined to uncover the truth while caring for her sick mother and younger siblings. As Ree delves deeper, she unearths dark secrets that challenge her perception of family and loyalty. The tension escalates as the stakes become life-threatening, forcing Ree to make hard choices to protect her loved ones and retain a semblance of home. Ree's journey is a raw and unflinching exploration of survival amidst adversity and a stark portrayal of the lengths one will go to for family.
