In the late 1920s, renowned illusionist Stanley Crawford, known on stage as Wei Ling Soo, is enlisted by his friend Howard Burkan to unmask a purported psychic named Sophie Baker. Sophie has been beguiling a wealthy American family on the French Riviera with her astonishing abilities, and Howard believes her to be a fraud.
