Director: Tony Goldwyn
Actors: Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, Vera Farmiga
PlotSet in New York City, the movie revolves around Max, a down-on-his-luck chef who is struggling to keep his failing restaurant afloat. Max's personal life is no less turbulent, as he grapples with a bitter divorce and limited visitation rights to see his young son, Ezra, who means everything to him. Just as Max's despair reaches its peak, he is visited by his estranged sister, Beth, a free-spirited musician who has been globe-trotting for years. Beth offers help, albeit in her unpredictable way, suggesting that they create a unique dining experience in the city by merging their culinary and musical talents. Despite initial resistance stemming from their contrasting personalities and Max’s skepticism about her commitment, he reluctantly agrees, finding himself inspired by her optimism.
As they embark on this ambitious endeavor, Max must confront entrenched personal issues while navigating the challenges of launching a new venture. Tensions flare as old family wounds resurface, yet the siblings also rediscover forgotten bonds forged in their shared past. The film deftly explores themes of reconciliation, growth, and the rediscovery of passion amidst hardship. As their project gathers momentum, it draws an eclectic crowd, injecting new life into Max’s restaurant and strengthening family ties. However, unforeseen obstacles and surprises from Beth's past threaten to derail everything they’ve worked towards. Forced to confront their fears and insecurities, Max and Beth must decide what truly matters as they are faced with personal and professional crossroads.
