PlotA struggling, down-on-his-luck carpenter named Walt faces a challenging weekend when he is entrusted with his 8-year-old son, Anthony, while Anthony's mother and her new husband attend a religious retreat. Desperate to connect with his son and prove himself capable despite his dire financial situation, Walt is further strained when his expensive toolbox, essential for his livelihood, gets stolen. What starts as a simple father-son weekend turns into a quest across town to recover the stolen tools. Through a series of encounters with various eccentric and desperate characters, Walt attempts to navigate each mishap and misfortune they face along the way.
Throughout the process, Walt and Anthony's relationship deepens as they bond over their shared predicaments. Walt must balance his mounting frustration and anxiety about his predicament while trying to be a good father. With each step, Anthony gains insight into his father's struggles and complexities. Their journey takes them through moments of tension, reflection, and heartfelt connection, ultimately becoming an unexpected adventure that tests their resilience and strengthens their bond. The experience challenges both father and son to confront their vulnerabilities and fosters a deeper understanding between them.
