In the late 1930s, as the shadow of World War II looms, a renowned archaeologist and expert in the occult is tasked by the U.S. government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis do. The Ark is believed to hold the key to human existence, and its supernatural powers are coveted by the Nazi regime to conquer the world. The quest begins at a dusty tavern in Nepal, where the archaeologist must rekindle an old flame and retrieve a crucial artifact needed to locate the Ark.

The journey leads to Egypt, where the archaeologist and his former lover join forces with a savvy local digger. Together, they search for the Well of Souls, the resting place of the Ark. However, they are not alone in their pursuit; Nazi agents are relentless in their chase, and an old rival archaeologist is also after the prize for his own glory. As they decipher riddles and dodge traps, a race against time and enemy forces ensues in an effort to secure the Ark and protect it from falling into the wrong hands.
