In the early 2000s, former Navy Corpsman Larry "Doc" Shepherd seeks out his old Marine buddies, Sal Nealon and Richard Mueller, whom he hasn't seen in decades. Recently widowed and noticeably downcast, Doc needs their help for a profoundly personal mission. Doc reveals that his only son, a Marine, was killed in action in the Iraq War, and he wants Sal and Richard to accompany him to retrieve his son's body. Initially reluctant, both men agree and the trio sets off on a journey filled with memories and rediscovered camaraderie.
