End of Watch
Director: David Ayer
Actors: Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Peña, Anna Kendrick
PlotLos Angeles Police Department officers Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala patrol the streets of South Central LA, putting their lives on the line in one of the city's most crime-ridden areas. Brian, who is taking a film course for his pre-law studies, records their day-to-day activities with a handheld camera, providing a first-person perspective of their duties. Their friendship is as deep as their dedication to the job, often exchanging banter and teasing each other, but their bond is a representation of the brotherhood within the force. As they go about their shifts, they come upon the usual gamut of incidents, from trivial disturbances to the more dangerous calls that highlight the unpredictable nature of their work.
The routine of their jobs takes a drastic turn when they inadvertently stumble upon a human trafficking den, which attracts the attention of a dangerous drug cartel. The discovery sets off a chain of events that marks the two officers for retaliation by the cartel. Oblivious to the true depth and reach of the criminal organization they've angered, Brian and Mike find themselves dealing not only with the gang members on the streets but also confronting the looming threat that has placed them and their loved ones in grave danger. Their camaraderie and bravery are put to the ultimate test as they face an enemy that doesn't play by the rules.
