A shy and socially awkward high school girl lives with her religiously fanatical mother in a small town. At school, she is bullied and ridiculed by her peers, and at home, she is oppressed by her mother's overbearing piety. Unbeknownst to anyone, she harbors a secret supernatural ability—telekinesis, the power to move objects with her mind. Her life takes a turn when she experiences her first menstrual period in the school showers and, due to her mother's religious fervor, she is ignorant and terrified by the experience. The incident leads to a cruel prank by her classmates, further intensifying her anguish and isolation.
