PlotIdealistic Stephen Meyers is a junior campaign manager for Governor Mike Morris, a Democratic presidential candidate competing in the Ohio primary. Morris, a charismatic and progressive candidate, promises a bright future for America, advocating for clean energy and open debates on controversial topics. As the campaign heats up, Stephen works closely with senior campaign manager Paul Zara, dedicated to securing a victory for Morris. The opposing candidate's campaign manager, Tom Duffy, recognizes Stephen's talent and secretly offers him a job, setting off a chain of events that tests Stephen's political allegiances and moral compass.
Amid the high-stakes political maneuvering, Stephen's confidence in the campaign is shaken by the discovery of inner workings and deal-making that challenge his idealism. He becomes involved with a young intern, Molly Stearns, who possesses information that could implode Morris's campaign. As Stephen navigates the treacherous waters of political strategy and personal relationships, he confronts the harsh realities of power, loyalty, and the consequences of ambition within the frenzied ecosystem of a presidential race.
