Malcolm is a high school senior living in a tough neighborhood in Inglewood, California. He dreams of escaping his environment and attending Harvard University. His best friends, Jib and Diggy, share his passion for '90s hip-hop culture, playing in their punk band and navigating the daily challenges of their crime-ridden community. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they are invited to a drug dealer's party, where Malcolm ends up with a backpack full of ecstasy. This accidental encounter thrusts them into the dangerous world of drug dealing as they try to find a way out without getting caught.

As Malcolm, Jib, and Diggy scramble to offload the drugs and avoid interacting with law enforcement, they must cleverly maneuver between rival gangs and opportunistic classmates.
