PlotA tight-knit New York City improv troupe, known as The Commune, sees their bond tested when they learn that their theater is closing down. The group consists of six members, each with their own dreams and ambitions: Jack, who harbors aspirations of landing a spot on a popular late-night comedy show; Sam, his girlfriend and co-performer, who struggles with the idea of stepping out of her comfort zone; Allison, who juggles her passion for art with her improv work; Lindsay, who comes from a wealthy background but seeks validation for her comedic talents; Bill, who is coping with family issues back home; and Miles, a founder of the group dealing with the reality of being eclipsed by younger talent. The troupe's dynamic faces strain as Jack is offered an audition for "Weekend Live," a huge opportunity that only heightens tension among the friends.
As the group's final performances draw near, long-standing rivalries and insecurities come to the forefront. Each member grapples with the fear of failure, jealousy, and the painful realization that not everyone will achieve their dreams. Sam must decide what she values more: her relationship with Jack or her commitment to the troupe. Meanwhile, Miles faces his dwindling role within the group and questions his future in comedy. As personal and professional uncertainties collide, the ensemble must navigate their evolving relationships and careers, challenging their perceptions of success and failure in the competitive world of comedy.
