A skilled martial artist, Jacques, travels from France to Los Angeles to attend university. Eager to pursue higher learning, he quickly finds himself in a neighborhood plagued by gang violence. Struggling to find affordable housing, Jacques rents a room from a single mother, Maria, and her young son, Martin.
