Chuck Levine and Larry Valentine are Brooklyn firefighters and best friends. Chuck is a carefree ladies' man, while Larry is a widowed father devoted to his two young children. After a near-death experience on the job, Larry is confronted with the reality that his kids could be left without proper care should anything happen to him. Due to bureaucratic issues, he can't simply change his insurance policy's beneficiary.
