Burying the Ex
Director: Joe Dante
Actors: Anton Yelchin, Ashley Greene, Alexandra Daddario
PlotMax, a nice but somewhat aimless young man, finds himself in a challenging relationship with his overly controlling girlfriend, Evelyn. Despite his deep love for horror films and aspirations for a more thrilling life, Max's world is tethered by Evelyn's environmental activism and dominating behavior. The situation takes a turn when Evelyn moves in with Max, making his life increasingly unbearable. Feeling trapped and seeking an escape, Max contemplates breaking up with Evelyn to pursue his own happiness and freedom.
In a twist of fate, Max's reluctant decision is abruptly made irrelevant when Evelyn dies in a freak accident. As Max attempts to move on from his loss, he stumbles upon Olivia, a kindred spirit who shares his passion for horror and the macabre. Just as Max begins to experience the excitement and compatibility he's longed for, his life is upended once again when Evelyn returns from the grave. Driven by a supernatural event tied to a satanic genie figurine they had in their apartment, Evelyn is now a zombie with a clingy attachment to Max and a determination to reclaim their love at any cost.
