This Is Not a Movie
Director: Olallo Rubio
Actors: Edward Furlong, Peter Coyote, Miguel Ferrer
PlotIn the midst of a chaotic and rapidly disintegrating world, a man named Pete, plagued by existential dread, isolates himself in a Las Vegas hotel room. Pete, who is convinced that life is meaningless, struggles to find purpose while encountering fragmented reflections of his psyche. Through a series of strange and surreal experiences, he grapples with various aspects of his identity as he faces the overriding anxiety about the world's apocalyptic trajectory.
As Pete delves deeper into his introspection and paranoia, he encounters different personas that challenge his perception of reality. Conversations with these manifestations, which range from cynical commentators to philosophical wanderers, force him to confront the nature of existence and his role within it. Encapsulated in a mind-bending narrative, the film unfolds as a darkly comedic yet profound exploration of a man teetering on the edge of sanity amid the impending collapse of his external environment. Before long, Pete must decide whether to succumb to despair or seek meaning in the seemingly absurd world around him.
