PlotIn a small town in Ohio, Curtis LaForche lives a modest, uneventful life with his wife Samantha and their deaf daughter Hannah. Plagued by a series of apocalyptic visions and disturbing dreams, Curtis becomes increasingly worried about a looming disaster. The dreams are so vivid and terrifying that they begin to affect his daily life. Curtis is haunted by visions of ominous storm clouds, swarms of blackbirds, and being harmed by those closest to him. His preoccupation with these nightmares strains his relationship with his family and raises concern from his friends and co-workers.
Compelled by his nightmarish premonitions, Curtis decides to take drastic measures to protect his family. Against the backdrop of his community's skepticism and his family's financial struggles, he pours his time and resources into expanding an old storm shelter in his backyard. His obsession with the shelter and his erratic behavior create tension with his wife, as they cannot afford the construction and she is left bewildered by his actions. Curtis's determination is driven by love for his family and the fear that his visions may be an early warning. With the strain on his personal life and sanity mounting, he seeks help from healthcare professionals and confides in his friend and co-worker, Dewart, hoping to find some sense of normalcy amidst the chaos brewing in his mind.
