PlotIn a secluded Appalachian town, local handyman Jack Owens enters a chaotic period when he stumbles upon the mysterious disappearance of his friend Thomas. Jack, known for his unassuming presence, finds himself entangled in a web of small-town secrets as he begins investigating. He encounters Marcy, an enigmatic and reclusive woman who lives deep in the woods, rumored to have an uncanny connection to the forest and its untamed mysteries. Marcy is avoided by most of the townsfolk, who blame her for various misfortunes. Intrigued by her aura and driven by an overwhelming desire for the truth, Jack ventures deeper into the woods and finds more than he bargained for upon visiting her isolated cabin.
As Jack’s investigation intensifies, he discovers long-buried secrets about the townspeople, revealing a dark tapestry of historical feuds, hidden relationships, and age-old superstitions. Although initially wary of Marcy, Jack realizes that she might hold the key to unraveling the mysteries surrounding Thomas's disappearance. The wilderness around them is almost a character in its own right, with its eerie noises and daunting presence influencing events. Jack must navigate through layers of deception while trying to determine who, if anyone, can be trusted. The tension escalates as Jack confronts his own fears, forcing him to follow a trail that could either save or destroy not only him but also those he holds dear. As the line between ally and adversary blurs, Jack’s journey pulls him into a tumultuous showdown that reveals the depth of human nature and the power of untamed land.
