In Hollywood, the making of a film called "Stab 3," based on the gruesome events that have haunted Woodsboro, attracts the attention of a mysterious killer. The cast members become targets of this unknown assailant, who seems to kill in the order and manner of the script they are shooting. This draws the original survivors of the Woodsboro murders—former policewoman Dewey Riley, journalist Gale Weathers, and the resilient Sidney Prescott—back together.
