PlotBeth finds a lost dog on the side of the freeway and decides to rescue it, naming the dog Freeway. She brings the dog home, forming a strong bond with it, but this connection causes tension with her husband, Joseph, who is not as enthusiastic about the new family member. Despite this, Freeway becomes an integral part of their lives. During a family wedding at their vacation home in the Rockies, Joseph, distracted by an important phone call, loses track of Freeway while taking him for a walk. This incident sets off a frantic search for the beloved pet.
Beth, deeply upset by Freeway's disappearance, leads the search effort, enlisting the help of their family and friends who are staying with them. As they comb through the surrounding wilderness, the group deals with their own individual relationships and past grievances. The landscape becomes both a physical and emotional backdrop for the unfolding drama as they struggle with their fears and hopes, desperately trying to reunite with Freeway. Along the way, each character reveals deeper aspects of their personality and relationships through their interactions and the journey to find the lost dog. The quest to bring Freeway home becomes a transformative experience for everyone involved.
