Plot

Grace, a bright and hardworking young woman, is set on attending medical school but must find a way to finance her dreams. When she finds out she cannot afford the tuition, she turns to her mother Rhonda, a postal worker living a life of comfort with a penchant for scratch-off lottery tickets, for help. However, her mother's financial irresponsibility and gambling habits make her an unreliable source of assistance. Desperate to find a way to pay for her education, Grace's situation becomes even more complicated when her rebellious sister Taylor runs away from boarding school and returns home, bringing chaos and challenges. Aside from her family troubles, Grace starts a relationship with Dorian, a charming and adventurous teen who offers her a risky way to make money.

Dorian's scheme involves transporting stolen property across states, and the promise of quick cash tempts Grace. Though hesitant, her aspirations and the mounting debts propel her to take part in the illicit activities. As she becomes more involved in Dorian's world, the situation escalates, leading to unforeseen consequences and forcing Grace to navigate the burdens and dilemmas of her choices. Meanwhile, Taylor's behavior continues to spiral, and the compounding stress on the family unit exposes their vulnerabilities and strained relationships, culminating in a critical moment that challenges Grace's moral compass and her future aspirations.
