After losing her waitressing job, she takes a position as a caregiver to Will Traynor, a wealthy young banker who was left paralyzed from an accident two years earlier. Initially, they struggle to connect due to Will's bitterness and frustration with his situation. As time passes, Louisa's sunny disposition and colorful personality begin to penetrate Will's gruff exterior. She introduces him to activities that bring some joy back into his life, slowly building a closer relationship between them.
Louisa discovers that her role as a caregiver is more emotionally complex than she anticipated, requiring her to confront her own values and beliefs.
