Actors: Winston Duke, Zazie Beetz, Bill Skarsgård
PlotIn a secluded house, a reclusive man named Will spends his days watching live feeds of people going about their daily lives on television screens. These individuals are souls currently living on Earth, and Will monitors them closely, taking detailed notes on their actions and experiences. He meticulously maintains records and takes an abiding interest in certain individuals, who are ultimately chosen during a selection process for an opportunity to be born. However, the deaths of two of these souls leave Will deeply troubled and questioning his role. His isolation is broken when new souls arrive at his house, each vying for the chance to be born and live a human life.
As the new candidates undergo a rigorous selection process over nine days, Will subjects them to a series of psychological and moral tests designed to evaluate their readiness for life on Earth. Among the hopefuls, each soul displays unique qualities, strengths, and vulnerabilities. During this period of testing, Will develops a distinct connection with a spirited candidate named Emma, who challenges his perspectives and methods. As the evaluations progress, questions about the value of life, the nature of human experience, and the subjective criteria for worthiness come to the forefront. Through their interactions, Will confronts his past choices and grapples with the implications of his judgments, leading to transformative insights about his own existence.
