A shipwreck survivor named Andrew Braddock is washed ashore on a mysterious island. Upon regaining consciousness, he meets Dr. Moreau, a scientist who warmly welcomes him into his home. Moreau explains that he is conducting research on the island but keeps the nature of his work ambiguous. Braddock begins to notice something peculiar about the island's inhabitants; they exhibit both human and animal traits, leading him to question the ethical bounds of Moreau's scientific pursuits.
