PlotIn a dystopian future where a mysterious epidemic has wiped out nearly all the female population, a father and his pre-teen daughter, Rag, navigate through the outskirts of society in the Pacific Northwest. The father constantly disguises Rag as a boy to protect her from the dangers posed by a male-dominated world that has devolved into chaos. Their bond strengthens as they have intimate, heartfelt conversations about ethics, history, and survival while moving from one secluded place to another. Always on high alert, the father meticulously coaches Rag in survival tactics and moral lessons to prepare her for any eventuality.
Their nomadic existence takes them to a cabin in the woods, which serves as a temporary refuge. As they attempt to settle, they encounter occasional strangers posing potential threats, pushing the father’s protective instincts to their limits. The father's storytelling and guidance provide solace and education for Rag, yet it becomes increasingly hard to shield her from the stark reality they face. Trust and survival become central themes as their journey unfolds, highlighting the profound bond between parent and child in an unraveling world.
