Becky Fuller is a hardworking, enthusiastic television producer who is unexpectedly laid off from her job at a local morning show. Desperate and determined to break into the big leagues, she lands a job at Daybreak, the lowest-rated national morning news show, which is struggling to attract a larger audience and is on the verge of being canceled. With her career on the line, Becky takes on the daunting task of revamping the show. Her first move is to recruit veteran newsman Mike Pomeroy, who is reluctant and defiant, seeing morning television as beneath his journalistic integrity.

As Becky bravely navigates the high-pressure world of morning news, she faces numerous challenges, including the clashing egos of her co-hosts, Mike and the seasoned Colleen Peck.
