Robin Hood
Director: Otto Bathurst
Actors: Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn
PlotIn medieval England, Lord Robin of Loxley is drafted to fight in the Crusades, leaving behind his estate and beloved Marian. During the war, he encounters Yahya – who later adopts the name John – whose son Robin tried to save during a chaotic battle. When Robin is sent back to England due to a war injury, he finds his estate seized by the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham, who presides with an iron fist, taxing the populace to fund the war effort. Marian has moved on, believing Robin to be dead, and is now with Will Tillman, a political activist advocating for the people's rights. Disheartened by all the suffering and injustice, Robin is spurred into action when John appears, proposing a daring plan to strike back against the Sheriff.
Training rigorously, Robin hones his archery skills and adopts a dual identity: a charming aristocrat who ingratiates himself back into Nottingham high society, and an elusive thief who steals from the rich, earning the moniker of "The Hood." As Robin and John execute a series of heists against the state's treasury, they begin distributing the stolen wealth, gaining the support and admiration of the oppressed townsfolk. Their activities incite the fury of the Sheriff, who intensifies his grasp on the city, while Robin navigates a complex web of political intrigue, determined to ignite a revolt against the corruption that plagues his homeland.
