PlotAndy Stitzer is a shy and socially awkward man who lives a solitary life filled with video games, action figures, and a job at an electronics store. Despite being kind-hearted and friendly, Andy’s lack of confidence has kept him from experiencing romance and, at the age of 40, he remains a virgin. His life is routine and uneventful until his secret is inadvertently revealed to his more worldly co-workers during a game of poker. Their reaction is one of disbelief, and they take it upon themselves to help Andy with his perceived problem.
Seeing Andy's inexperience as a challenge, his colleagues—David, Cal, and Jay—launch various plans to end his virginity. Their well-meaning but often misguided advice leads Andy into a series of uncomfortable and humorous situations as he tries various strategies to meet women. Andy eventually crosses paths with Trish, a single mother who is attracted to his genuine and considerate nature. As Andy begins to develop feelings for her, he finds himself at a crossroads, struggling with his insecurities and the pressure from his friends to change his life. The quest to find romantic connection becomes a journey of personal growth, as Andy learns that there's more to relationships than just losing his virginity.
