Actors: Daniel Kaluuya, Jodie Turner-Smith, Bokeem Woodbine
PlotA black man and woman are on their first date in a Cleveland diner, having met through an online dating service. The evening comes to a close with little promise for the future, but their lives are unexpectedly thrust into the national spotlight when their drive home spins into a life-changing moment. Pulled over by a police officer for a minor traffic violation, the situation escalates rapidly, and in a frantic act of self-defense, the man shoots the officer dead. Panicked and facing certain death if they stay, the pair make the fateful decision to flee the scene, leaving behind their old lives forever.
As the couple becomes fugitives, evading the manhunt launched by law enforcement, a viral video of the incident turns them into both media sensations and symbols of trauma, grief, and fear for the African-American community. With no one to turn to, they drive south, their destination as uncertain as their fate. Along the way, they encounter a tapestry of characters, each interaction a step in their transformation from strangers into companions, from wanted individuals into unintentional heroes resisting an unjust system. Their journey is one of self-discovery and companionship against the backdrop of a country rife with racial tension and injustice.
