Zombie Lake
Director: Jean Rollin, Julian de Laserna
Actors: Howard Vernon, Pierre-Marie Escourrou, Anouchka
PlotIn a quiet, rural village in France, a dark legend haunts the picturesque landscape. The local residents whisper of a cursed lake where, years ago, Nazi soldiers were brutally ambushed and murdered by the Resistance fighters during World War II. Their bodies were unceremoniously dumped into the lake, which has since been avoided by the townspeople. Over time, the lake gained notoriety for being haunted as strange occurrences began to surround it. No one dares to venture near, keeping the memory of the past at a wary distance.
The eerie peace is shattered when the undead soldiers, now zombies, emerge from their watery grave, drawn back to the world of the living by an unknown force. With an insatiable hunger for human flesh, they begin to terrorize the village, preying on any unsuspecting individual who crosses their path. Among them is a poignant figure—a soldier with a connection to a local woman and her young daughter, adding complexity to the outpouring of horror from the depths. Fear grips the hearts of the villagers as they grapple with the terror that has risen from the murky depths of the lake, setting the stage for a chilling confrontation between the living and the undead.
