Harvard anthropologist Dennis Alan is sent to Haiti to investigate a mysterious powder that supposedly has the ability to turn people into zombies. Sent by a pharmaceutical company eager to harness its potential as an anesthetic, Dennis delves into the dark and complex world of voodoo rituals and practices. In Port-au-Prince, he meets locals who introduce him to the spiritual and political landscape, including Dr. Marielle Duchamp, who becomes his guide and ally.
