Each child in the family receives a unique power when they come of age, aiding the community in various ways. However, Mirabel, the protagonist, is the only child who does not receive a gift, which leaves her feeling out of place and struggling to find her role within the family. Despite this, Mirabel's love for her family remains strong, and she often feels a deep connection to the enchanted house they inhabit, known as Casita. The family matriarch, Abuela Alma, is determined to maintain the sanctity and legacy of their magical blessings, which she believes are the key to the family's unity and prosperity.
The story takes a turn when Mirabel discovers cracks forming in Casita and realizes that the magic surrounding her family is fading. Alarmed by the impending loss of their powers, Mirabel takes it upon herself to identify the source of the disruption. She embarks on a journey filled with surprises and revelations, seeking answers about her family's past and the origins of their magic. As she delves deeper into the mystery, Mirabel uncovers hidden truths that challenge her understanding of what it means to belong to this exceptional lineage.
