PlotIn the desert town of Sand Rock, Arizona, amateur astronomer John Putnam and schoolteacher Ellen Fields witness a meteorite crashing nearby. Putnam, intrigued by the occurrence, investigates the impact site and is astonished to discover not a simple meteorite, but a spacecraft of unknown origin half-buried in the sandy terrain. Before he can examine it further, a landslide buries the evidence, and without physical proof of his claims, the townspeople are skeptical of what he says he has seen. Frustrated and driven by his conviction, Putnam persuades Ellen and his friend, Sheriff Matt Warren, to consider the possibility that something alien might have arrived on Earth.
As strange incidents begin to unfold around Sand Rock, residents start to behave oddly, and some even disappear, causing alarm and suspicion among the townsfolk. The sheriff confronts Putnam with growing skepticism and concern about spreading panic. Despite the increasing hostilities against him, fueled by fear and misunderstanding, Putnam is resolute in his determination to understand the mysterious happenings. The unusual occurrences point to an extraordinary explanation, inciting Putnam to delve deeper into the unknown in search of the truth behind the events shaking the town. His investigation leads him closer to the visitors from another world, whose intentions are not yet clear to the residents of Sand Rock.
