PlotA young girl named Chihiro and her parents stumble upon a seemingly abandoned amusement park while on their way to their new home. While exploring, her parents come across a decadent buffet and start eating ravenously, but as night falls, mysterious things begin to happen. The park is revealed to be a bathhouse for the spirit world, and her parents are transformed into pigs as a punishment for their gluttony. Terrified by the unfolding events, Chihiro discovers she’s become invisible to the human world and encounters Haku, a boy with mystical abilities who advises her to find work within the bathhouse to survive and rescue her parents.
To save her parents and return to the human world, Chihiro secures a job in the bathhouse, which is run by the tyrannical witch, Yubaba. As part of her contract, she relinquishes her name and is given the name Sen. The bathhouse serves a variety of gods and supernatural beings, and Chihiro must navigate this bizarre and treacherous world, performing her duties with courage and sincerity. Along the way, she meets a host of enigmatic and peculiar inhabitants of the spirit world, including a silent and enigmatic spirit called No-Face and the grumpy but kind-hearted boiler man Kamaji. As she works in the bathhouse, Chihiro starts to unravel the mysteries of the spirit world and learns to rely on her wits and inner strength.
