Son of God
Director: Christopher Spencer
Actors: Diogo Morgado, Amber Rose Revah, Greg Hicks
PlotIn the throes of a tumultuous Roman-occupied Judea, the narrative follows the profound and transformative journey of Jesus (Yeshua), a charismatic carpenter who claims to be the son of God. His teachings of love, compassion, and a new covenant between God and humanity begin to resonate with the oppressed Jewish population. Jesus’s growing number of disciples, including Mary Magdalene, Peter, and John, bear witness to miracles and the compelling wisdom that challenge the existing religious and social order. His reputation as a spiritual leader and miracle worker spreads rapidly, drawing the attention of the people, religious authorities, and the Roman Empire alike.
Tension escalates as the religious leaders, fearing the loss of their power and a potential uprising, perceive Jesus's influence as a direct threat to their authority. They conspire with the Roman governor Pontius Pilate to halt the movement that's rapidly gaining momentum. As Jesus's popularity grows, so does the concern of the establishment, setting the stage for conflict and forcing his followers to grapple with the nature of his divine identity and message. These events lead to a critical juncture where political, religious, and social forces converge, culminating in a decisive moment that will forge the legacy of his teachings and shape the future of his followers and detractors alike.
