The Dead Zone
Director: David Cronenberg
Actors: Christopher Walken, Brooke Adams, Tom Skerritt
PlotAfter a catastrophic car accident, Johnny Smith awakens from a five-year coma to discover he has developed psychic abilities. When Johnny touches a person or their belongings, he experiences visions of the person's past, present, or even future. Struggling to come to terms with his condition, Johnny is viewed with a mix of fear and awe by those around him. His relationship with his former love interest, Sarah, becomes complicated as she has moved on with her life during his coma. As he grapples with the changes in his personal life, he must also navigate the burden and responsibility that his new powers bring.
Johnny's abilities garner the attention of local law enforcement, leading to a reluctant partnership with Sheriff Bannerman to help solve a series of murders that have baffled the police. His psychic insights offer a crucial edge in catching the killer, but as Johnny becomes more involved, he starts to realize the extent to which his gift can affect the lives of others. Confronted with visions of a deadly future event, Johnny finds himself faced with a moral and potentially life-altering dilemma, as he must decide whether to intervene and prevent a catastrophe, even if it means paying a high personal price.
