PlotIn the late 1980s, an ambitious and determined young woman named Tracy Edwards sets out on a groundbreaking mission to lead the first all-female crew in the Whitbread Round the World Race, a perilous yachting competition covering 33,000 nautical miles. Facing skepticism and outright hostility from the male-dominated sailing community, Tracy assembles a team of twelve women who, despite their varying levels of experience, share her passion and tenacity. They secure a second-hand boat, which they name Maiden, and painstakingly restore it to seaworthy condition. The journey to the starting line is fraught with financial and logistical challenges, but through extraordinary perseverance, Tracy and her crew manage to secure sponsorship and make their dream a reality.
As they embark on their grueling voyage, the crew of Maiden must navigate some of the most treacherous waters on Earth, battling extreme weather conditions and enduring physical and emotional hardships. Each leg of the race tests their skills, resilience, and solidarity to the limit. Their presence in the competition captures global attention, challenging entrenched gender stereotypes and offering inspiration to countless women worldwide. The stakes are high as they strive to prove not only their capabilities but also the potential of women in the world of professional sailing.
