Better Off Dead

PlotHigh school teenager Lane Myer's life takes a nosedive when his girlfriend, Beth, breaks up with him for the school's ski team captain. Devastated by the loss, Lane sees his life as a series of unending disasters, from his oddball family's bizarre antics to his futile attempts to end his misery, which comically fail each time. Lane's obsession with winning Beth back drives him to extreme measures, including challenging his rival to a dangerous ski race, despite his limited skiing skills.
Meanwhile, Lane finds unexpected companionship with Monique, a foreign exchange student living with his obnoxious neighbors. Monique turns out to be a skilled mechanic and a supportive friend who helps Lane find value in himself beyond his relationship with Beth. As Lane struggles to rebuild his confidence and navigate the absurdity of teenage life, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery, learning about resilience, the importance of genuine connections, and finding happiness in the most unexpected places.
