Meet the Parents
Director: Jay Roach
Actors: Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Teri Polo
PlotMale nurse Greg Focker is ready to propose to his girlfriend Pam, but he learns that Pam's sister's recent engagement came with the approval of her father, Jack. Greg decides to seek the same approval during a weekend stay at Pam's parents' house. Nervous about making a good impression, Greg's bid for acceptance quickly goes awry. His misfortunes begin with a lost baggage incident that forces him to wear inappropriate clothing and escalates as his attempt to impress the family with his knowledge and attempts at politeness stumble at every turn.
As Greg tries to get into the good graces of Pam's family, he discovers that Jack, a former CIA operative, harbors doubts about him. A series of misunderstandings and mishaps, including a disastrous volleyball game and Greg's unwitting disrespect for the family's beloved pet cat, increases the tension. Jack's relentless scrutiny and the mounting pressure from the family's expectations leave Greg in a series of increasingly awkward and embarrassing situations. All the while, Greg's intention to propose is repeatedly frustrated, leading to further comedic setbacks.
