CIA agents D.T. Gagano and Palmer Eldritch are tasked with a high-stakes mission to infiltrate a virtual reality simulation called Psychobook to eliminate a virus known as the Soviet Union. Disguised as 1970s Batman-like characters, they navigate this bizarre digital realm filled with peculiar figures and surreal landscapes. However, their mission takes an unexpected turn, trapping Gagano in the simulation while Eldritch manages to escape back to reality. Struggling to find a way out, Gagano encounters a series of eccentric avatars, including a kung-fu anglerfish and the enigmatic Mr. Sophistication, all while facing the growing threat posed by the mysterious virus.
