Actors: Aisholpan Nurgaiv, Daisy Ridley, Rys Nurgaiv
PlotAisholpan, a 13-year-old Kazakh girl, lives in the mountainous region of Mongolia and dreams of becoming an eagle hunter, a role traditionally held by men. Encouraged by her supportive father, she starts training her own eagle, showcasing remarkable courage, determination, and skill. Despite considerable skepticism and opposition from the elders in her community who believe that females should not participate in eagle hunting, Aisholpan remains resolute in her pursuit. Her father’s guidance and the bond she forms with her eagle play a crucial part in her journey.
Throughout the first half of her journey, Aisholpan faces increasingly challenging tests of her abilities, both in capturing and training her eagle, and in proving herself within the strict practices of eagle hunting. As she prepares for a significant eagle hunting competition, her dedication and unique approach begin to shift perceptions around her. The film beautifully highlights her perseverance and the natural landscapes that serve as both her home and a training ground. The story emphasizes cultural traditions while illustrating how one determined individual can challenge and transform long-standing norms.
