Anthropoid
Director: Sean Ellis
Actors: Jamie Dornan, Cillian Murphy, Brian Caspe
PlotIn 1941, two Czechoslovak exile soldiers, Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš, are parachuted into their Nazi-occupied homeland as part of Operation Anthropoid. Their mission is to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich, the main architect behind the Final Solution and the third in command of the Nazi regime. After surviving a challenging landing, they make contact with the Czech resistance in Prague. Through meticulous planning and dangerous reconnaissance, they work tirelessly to prepare for their difficult task. As they grapple with limited resources and the ever-present threat of discovery by the Gestapo, they form close bonds with their local contacts, including a few brave civilians who risk their lives to assist in their mission.
Despite facing setbacks and increasing tensions within the group, the operatives remain dedicated to their perilous objective. They consider various strategies and overcome personal doubts while remaining under constant pressure from both Nazi surveillance and internal conflicts. The stakes are high, as a successful assassination could galvanize resistance movements across Europe but also trigger brutal reprisals from the occupying forces. As their window of opportunity narrows, Jozef and Jan's resolve is tested to its limits while the operation escalates toward its critical moment.
